MIAMI: The Atlantic hurricane season for 2007 is expected to be very active with at least five hurricanes developing into intense or major hurricanes, the forecast team of the Colorado State University said Tuesday.
The team anticipated 17 named storms developing in the Atlantic basin between 1 June and 30 November with nine getting to become hurricanes and five of these acquiring higher intensity (Saffir/Simpson category 3-4-5). These hurricanes may carry winds with speed exceeding 111 miles per hour, the team said in its forecast.
Not a warning nor a prediction, just an idle reference to what might become an interesting season down there in the source region of our UK weather.
